Praise and True Worship

Difference between Praise and Worship

The main difference between Praise and Worship is that while Praise is unidirectional,Worship is Relational. Our Praise is to God.He does not Praise us!. 1 Chronicles 16:28-29 “Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; (these three phrases describe praise). bring an offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness (these two phrases describe worship)”.

In Praising,we dont expect a response from God. However,in Worhip,we expect a response from Him as it is a communion with Him and from Him in the spiritual realm. In 1 Corinthians 14:15,we learn that Worship manifests iteslf in our  spirit where God dwells -“I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind”

True Worship

At Langley Free church (LFC) we believe in True Worship.  John 4:23-24 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

God is a real Spirit who wishes to commune with His creatures created in His image. He wishes a real and honest relationship with us. That relationship can come only from the heart of a person – one’s spirit. It can only exist if it is truthful in all aspects with the Creator. We are now able to worship our God in spirit and truth because the Truth, Jesus, has been revealed to us. Our worship should always radiates from Him.

True worship, in other words, is defined by the priority we place on who God is in our lives and where God is on our list of priorities. True worship is a matter of the heart expressed through a lifestyle of holiness.

True worship enable us to obey The commands of Christ and to benefit from Promises or rewards  for living by the words of Christ.

At Langley Free Church  we use a mixture of hymns and modern worship songs, reading the Bible and hearing the preaching upon it. There is usually a talk for the children near the beginning of the service before they go out for sunday school.

Drama, sketches and dance are sometimes used to bring a bible passage or message to life and there is often a chance in the service to take part. Sometime we explore new ways of worshiping which are more interactive (discussion in small groups, youth services, art etc.) and use multi-media (video clips, music).

Once a month (On the 1st Sunday) we have a family all age service where we share in Holy communion.

At LFC,we believe that Church worship is not only to build up those that are already Christians but also an evangelistic opportunity to speak about the gospel to those present that have not made a commitment.

One of the most satisfying achievement for a believer is when they obey the commands of Jesus and lead others to exprience the unconditional love of God.This is, expanding the numbers that  Praise and worship of God. This command is in Matthew 28:19-"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

A disciple is is further required to spread the Good news about Jesus. Colossians 1:28-29-"Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all His energy that He powerfully works within me.”

At LFC,we recognise that people are at different levels of maturity in Christianity. This calls for different aproaches in how the Good news is spread within the church:
